Damn. thats wasup Six. its crazy how people try to tell u who artists are based on the image they portray through their music. but its things like this that really let you know who they are and what they value and beleive in. this def. enhanced my respect and appreciation for him as an artist and person. -18.
The piece of Mr. Carter’s letter that I love the most reads “…we’re all living on borrowed time. Life happens quick. The more time you spend contemplating what you should have done…you lose valuable time planning what you can and would do. Trying to tear down the past prohibits you from building up your future… my love and spirit has no boundaries” (Young Money via the prison walls). Such words show that he is motivated to elevate above and beyond the norm. He is appreciative of his fans, humbled, positively inspired/ing regardless of circumstance, and he realizes that God’s “will” is crucial to his existence and movement (the prayer the letter includes proves this). One a different note, Carter is quite brilliant and fabulous. His work-ethic and commitment to his artistic growth is admirable. This is one thing if nothing else that young people can truly learn from his work. He is, his art and he takes it everywhere he goes. I am looking forward to what he does once he is physically freed from prison because his spirit is unbounded. This experience could take his music to a whole different level of brilliancy. Looking at Carter’s transition from collectivism (Cash Money) to individualism (Young Money) inspires those who can vibe with his musical presence. It seems that he does a lot of drugs, drinks a ton, comes across as hypersexual, and now he carries this criminal-like tag for gun possession. But, who is anyone but God to judge isolated aspects of his behavior? Is he any worst than the regular, random and even some cocaine sniffing/pot burning/federal crooks in corporate and political America? The top down peeps are some of the main encouragers of weaponry/violence, mass liquor production, mass narcotic trafficking and ineffective slave systems like prison. True, we all are held accountable for our actions. However, when we live in a loop of chaos, it is hard to know what to do and not to do, sometimes. I enjoy Wayne because he is not afraid to surface his individualism, no matter how wild it can appear to some onlookers.
